PAC dan 1MDB

COULD NAJIB TELL THE TRUTH? With more than a month to go, 1MDB says Arul & Shahrol will attend PAC hearings
1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB) has reiterated its commitment that its top executives will attend the ongoing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) inquiry into the troubled company and extend their full cooperation.
This followed speculation by DAP's parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang that Umno lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah's insistence that 1MDB's staunch critic Tony Pua step down as PAC member, could be a pretext for the company's two senior executives to boycott the inquiry.
Pua, DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP, had also questioned if the attempt to remove him was to prevent 1MDB's top management from facing an "intense grilling".
1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy and former CEO Datuk Shahrul Azral Ibrahim Halmi are scheduled to appear before PAC in August, as part of the bi-partisan parliamentary committee's probe into the debt-laden's company operations.
"1MDB notes speculative statements in the media today, attributed to YB Lim Kit Siang and YB Tony Pua, questioning if Datuk Shahrol Halmi and Arul Kanda would attend upcoming PAC hearings in August.

Arul Kanda Kandasamy
"1MDB repeats our commitment, as announced on 25 May 2015, to attend the PAC hearings.
"It is clear that the speculation today by both individuals is to divert attention from the recent heavy criticism of YB Tony Pua, a member of the PAC, for his many statements that may be seen as prejudging 1MDB although the PAC process has yet to be completed.
"1MDB has every confidence in the PAC process and trust that the honourable members will carry out their role in a fair and professional manner.
"We hereby reconfirm our attendance and commitment to fully cooperate with the PAC," 1MDB said in a brief statement today. – TMI
