KUALA LUMPUR: Taking to Twitter today in praise of the rather vocal Johor royal family, Zaid Ibrahim said Minister of Tourism and Culture Nazri Aziz had “skewered” logic and was rather “empty”, echoing the words of the Tunku Mahkota of Johor who said recently that the minister was “empty in the head”.
“…I am happy that Johor Royalty is standing up to Umno leaders. These leaders are now acting like Emperors,” the former law minister tweeted, wishing Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and his family a long life.
He also said, “We have now an institution that is prepared to stand up to Umno Royalty. We much prefer the real one.”
Tunku Ismail has in the past criticised Prime Minister Najib Razak for skipping the Nothing2Hide dialogue in early June. He has also been embroiled in a war of words with Nazri who warned him against meddling in politics and said that if he persisted, he would be “whacked”.
While singing praises of the Johor monarchy, Zaid lambasted Nazri for making illogical statements when he tweeted, “Nazri’s logic is somewhat skewered. 3 previous PMs might have chosen him exactly because he is empty.”
Today, the Crown Prince of Johor, in an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini, said that Nazri was either “overconfident or empty in his head”.
”He is not a very bright fellow, to be honest,” Tunku Ismail was quoted as saying on the news portal.
“I have read one statement by him where he said people like to take interest in him (Nazri) because ‘I am like a Hollywood star, I am rich, powerful and good-looking’.
“Rich, yes. Powerful, maybe… Good-looking, no. You can quote me on that, I really don’t mind,” the crown prince said of the minister.
Nazri has said in the past that certain quarters stalk him and his family as if he was a Hollywood film star and remarked, “I’m a rich man, I’m powerful, good-looking. Wealthy. So what can I do?”
