MACC, the police and even EC are hopeless agencies or bureaus because they are under the control of Putrajaya where crooks thrive. As long as the current vicious entity is in charge, things will not improve and criminals who rule the country are above the law or untouchables. Imagine the nation where all the above are independent and non-partisan, one wonders whether BN still exists or not with their leaders all arrested, charged and thrown in jail for good..
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP elder statesman Lim Kit Siang won’t be surprised if the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has been twiddling its thumbs since the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report dated June 19 on alleged corrupt practices during the last General Election.
“What is holding back the MACC from instituting a full corruption inquiry into the WSJ report? Is it afraid of stepping on the toes of powerful people in government?”
The MACC, he added, seems to belabour under the delusion that unless there was a law on political funding, it would be fully justified in maintaining its zero record and performance “in bringing the sharks to book and can only go after the ikan bilis”.
“Its statement on political funding to be made more open and transparent was a cop-out to distract attention from its failures and abdication of responsibility to combat corruption in high places.”
He urged MACC to call in the people concerned from 1MDB, Genting Plantations and Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia (YR1M) for starters and probe them on electoral financing and also look into Mara’s overpriced property buys in Australia.
Lim, who is also DAP Parliamentary Leader and Gelang Patah MP, was commenting on a MACC statement that it was at the moment assisting other agencies investigating 1MDB.
Lim advised MACC to do some soul-searching and explain why it has yet to net even one “shark” in the past six years. “They should come out of their cushy air-conditioned offices and go to the ground and pay serious attention to their lack of credibility.”

MACC should explain why it failed to net even one “shark” in the last six years.
