Dr M, ‘divided Malays’ not problem, corruption is
YOURSAY ‘The Chinese want to cooperate with the clean Malays.’
'Malay parties have to beg Chinese for support'
Multi Racial: After retiring for many years, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is still trying to divide the nation into race and religions. It’s human nature, we have differing views.
It is not just Malays, Chinese, Indians and our East Malaysians are also divided into several parties. Don't lie to people as if only Malays and Muslims are divided. All other races are divided, too. What is wrong with that?
What Malaysians are afraid of are corruption and extremism. The former increased during Dr M’s regime and the latter is not actively promoted by him. It is so sad that the majority of Malaysians have lost respect for him.
Voice: In a democratic country, a government is elected through a process of election. The people will look at your party or coalition profiles and performance.
If your party is good, capable, corruption free, not racist and with the people at heart, etc, the people will come in droves to support you and vice versa. No political parties stoop so low as to beg for support.
Kangkung: What is wrong for Malaysians to choose which party they want to vote for? After 51 years of independence, Umno still wants to blame everyone for their problems. They know the intelligent younger generation is not listening to Umno and they need to create racial conflicts in order to stay in power.
Wira: Apa lagi Cina mahu? Is that begging? The Chinese want to cooperate with clean Malays, fair Malays and honest Malays. Whoever is in charge. You change and the Chinese will support you.
Justice for Malaysia: Did former premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi beg for Chinese support? The answer is a big "no". All he did was to stop your mega-projects and the Chinese just supported him.
Abasir: “I don't think in the Quran it states that you go to university to demonstrate”. Does the Quran say that the word ‘Allah’ is to be used only by Muslims in Malaysia? And what does the Quran say about tuns, tan sris and datuks? No mention of them? So confusing lah.
And more confusing is the statement that the fathers and grandfathers of all the sultans were potential traitors. “We gained independence because the rakyat realised if political power is given to the sultan, the sultan will give it to the British."
Otakechik: The Chinese are non-political animals. They are very flexible. They will do anything just to survive. If you provide them with a fair environment, votes will automatically be delivered to you.
I believe Chinese will even be prepared to "localise" their names if the government can guarantee fair treatment and they are given similar opportunities. The question is, are you prepared to accept them without discrimination?
GMK: Yes, Chinese are successful (become rich lah) because they lie? So all Chinese tycoons in Malaysia are the biggest liars or lies teller. And Mahathir is the best friend of all big liars in Malaysia, following Mahathir’s logic.
Continue-The-March: Mahathir in his advanced age is still huffing and puffing and trying hard to blame others for all the damage he has done to Malaysia under his 22 years of misrule and hundred of billions of RM wasted hoping to hoodwink some dumb soul. Without Chinese support in the 1999 general election, Mahathir’s government would have been kayoed by the exodus of Malay support due to Anwar Ibrahim’s bashing.
Mahathir agreed to endorsed the Suqiu request for fair treatment of all races before the GE in exchange of Chinese support. However, immediately after winning GE1999, Mahathir called the proponents of Suqiu as communist and dammed the agreement.
Fast forward to the 2013 GE13, Najib knew the Chinese will not believe Umno Baru any more, just right before GE13, Najib hoodwinked the "stupid group" of Indians asking them to support him in exchange for fair treatment to Indians.
After winning GE13, the "stupid group" of Indians were dammed. The saying goes: "If Umno Baru can be trusted, cows will fly".
Sali Tambap: Mahathir equated Umno, PAS and PKR as Malay parties that beg for Chinese support. He was partly right. Chinese do not support Umno any more. PAS is a partner in the Pakatan alliance and thus supported by the Chinese by default. The Malay party that is truly a partner and thus supported by the Chinese is PKR.
Mahathir should take stock of the situation and examine the credibility of Umno as a political party today. Obviously the present Umno is not the Umno of the Tunku's days. They have become very racist, unfair and corrupted. Perhaps they have taken everyone for granted and that it is their God-given right to run the country.
The Chinese did, however, give Mahathir a chance to rule but he had abused it. Chinese are practical people; they want fairness and reasonably good governance. They do not see that in Umno any more but in PKR of young, pragmatic and modern Malays. The voices of the good people in Umno are being drowned out by the extremists among their midst.

Tell the Truth: Dr M talks about losing power every day. Is that all he knows? Or is he becoming senile that he is so caught up with this lie? Sixty percent Malays are made up of Umno Malays who want to cheat and steal from the people, PAS Malays who want to hudud themselves and only left the real Malays in PKR and DAP and all those apolitical Malays who want the country to have a righteous and just government.
These are the Malays that the Chinese wants to work with, not corrupt Umno nor hudud PAS.
Ksn: Can anyone understand this man's logic? Strange, right? Just because the Malay parties stand for elections, the Chinese should vote for them! To use his words, beg. He does not seem to understand the parties standing in elections whether Malay, Chinese or Indian present their agenda to the people, the voters, towards nation building and the voters choose based on their preferences.
Has Umno Baru anything new to offer other than abuses, abuses of public funds, laws and country, this man's legacy. Did the Chinese vote for MCA in the last elections, I wish to ask this alleged US$44 billion man. He does not understand this basic principle of general elections, the people's right to choose. Imagine, he was our PM for 23 years!
His daughter Marina hopes her father will support the Eminent 25. He is unfit to join that enlightened group. He says he has yet to read their letter. Do not read it as the contents, the concepts they present are beyond you. They do not need your support anyway. The people are behind them.
